Our NPORS Excavator 360 (N202) training equips participants with essential knowledge to adhere to legal requirements, ensure safety compliance, understand procedures, and handle appropriate documentation and classifications.

Course Highlights

During this course, delegates will acquire the following skills and knowledge:

  • Gain a fundamental understanding of the industry and recognise associated hazards, emphasising the responsibilities of a plant operator.
  • Develop a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook specific to the Excavator 360.
  • Locate and identify major components of the machine, explaining their functions clearly.
  • Identify steering, driving, and braking controls, elaborating on their respective functions.
  • Identify and maintain Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) suitable for excavator use.
  • Perform thorough pre-operational checks in compliance with both manufacturer’s and legislative requirements.
  • Safely mount and dismount the machine.
  • Start and stop the engine, move the machine, and stop it securely.
  • Configure the machine for travel and safely maneuver it across various terrains in both open and confined areas.
  • Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area.
  • Execute excavations in diverse scenarios, adhering to safety protocols.
  • Follow correct procedures for loading material onto transporting vehicles or into containers.
  • Reinstate excavation sites, grade and level ground back to its original contours.
  • Properly fit and remove attachments.
  • Perform end-of-shift and shutdown procedures efficiently.

1. Industry Awareness and Responsibilities

  • Establishing a foundational understanding of the industry.
  • Recognising potential hazards associated with the industry and understanding responsibilities as a plant operator.

2. Machine Familiarisation and Operation

  • Learning and applying the manufacturer’s handbook for the specific machine to be used.
  • Identifying and explaining the major components of the machine and their functions.
  • Locating and understanding the steering, driving, and braking controls.

3. Safety Procedures and Equipment

  • Identifying and maintaining appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for excavator use.
  • Conducting thorough pre-operational checks in accordance with manufacturer’s and legislative requirements.

4. Safe Machine Handling and Operation

  • Safely mounting and dismounting the machine.
  • Starting, stopping the engine, and safely moving the machine off and stopping it securely.
  • Configuring the machine for travel and maneuvering it safely across varying terrains, both in open and confined areas.

5. Worksite Safety and Tasks

  • Conducting all necessary safety checks at the work area.
  • Maneuvering the machine to the work area and preparing it correctly for excavating tasks.
  • Executing excavating tasks with precision and safety measures.

6. Material Handling and Attachments

  • Loading materials onto transporting vehicles or into containers.
  • Reinstating excavation, grading, and leveling the ground.
  • Fitting and removing attachments as needed.

7. End of Shift and Shutdown Procedures

  • Carrying out all end-of-shift and shutdown procedures to ensure the machine’s safety and readiness for the next operation.

Course Completion

Upon successful completion of the NPORS Excavator 360 (N202) training, delegates will:

  • Possess a proficient understanding of the manufacturer’s handbook specific to the Excavator 360.
  • Confidently locate and identify the major components of the machine, articulating their functions adeptly.
  • Locate and identify key controls, explaining their functions with confidence.
  • Conduct all pre-operational and running checks in accordance with the manufacturer’s and legislative requirements.
  • Prepare an Excavator 360 for use and operate the machine safely and efficiently.
